**HomeForge** is a fully open source Windows desktop app that helps turn a spare Windows PC or mini PC into a proper home server.
The idea is simple. A lot of people have a small PC sitting around that could be running useful apps, bots, APIs, dashboards, workers, backups, or private tools all day and night. The problem is that setting up Windows properly for that can be annoying. You have to think about folders, power settings, firewall rules, backups, logs, app startup, connection URLs, health checks, and remote access.
HomeForge puts those setup tasks into one clean app.
It helps you prepare the PC for always on use, create a clean server folder structure, set up backup and health check tools, organise apps, generate connection details, and create copy ready URLs for apps that need to connect to your server.
It also helps with public access options like Tailscale Funnel, so an app can connect to your home server through a proper HTTPS address without needing to mess around with domains or router settings straight away.
HomeForge is useful for anyone who wants to:
Run a private bot from home
Host a small API
Keep a worker app running
Manage a mini PC as a home server
Create connection details for a desktop or mobile app
Set up backups and logs properly
Avoid doing everything manually in PowerShell
Make a Windows PC behave more like a reliable server
It does not try to magically replace networking knowledge or server security, but it does make the boring setup work much easier and more organised.
The goal is to make self hosting on Windows feel less messy and more beginner friendly.
